11 Hard-working People in the School Who Deserve a Shout Out!
Our schools have many people who want to help our students grow into kind, productive citizens. Stunning Jade wanted to give a brief shoutout to the outstanding and hardworking educators! Job titles may vary by district, so there may be some variation in your staff directory. Let’s begin!
Custodial staff: You are first because your job is so important! Observing your work is essential for the school building and student well-being. You may see students during the day, but your shift may not be a typical school day. Thank you for your hard work.
School Office staff: Your work during the day is essential, and your actions ensure the school day runs smoothly. Your reports matter so much for accreditation and student success. Depending on the layout of your school, you may see the students regularly or only a small amount who are getting early dismissal slips. Thank you for all that you do! You are doing a fantastic job ensuring the school operations are going well.
Classroom/ Instructional Assistant: You are making great connections with your students, whether your children are in a small group or a whole class. When I taught, the school day would not run without the extra hands that instructional assistants give. Students trust them and build great connections with them. You are integral in class. Thanks for all of your work!
Early Childhood Education Teachers- Some may be associated with an elementary school or a stand-alone building. I worked with early childhood education during my summer breaks. Your job is so important, educating our youngest children. You are building a fundamental foundation. It is such a tiring job. Thank you for everything you do!
Substitute Teachers: You could be associated with one school, long-term, or working with several schools in a district. Students will test everyone’s patience, particularly the substitute teacher. You have an important job to cover a class. Thanks for all that you do!
Classroom Teacher: You are given so many tasks in a day. You have many meetings to design engaging lessons and develop connections with the students. Teachers are the ones that are given so many of society’s concerns. Remember to prioritize your mental health, connect with your students, and understand you cannot do it all. Your students value your hard work, even if they email you a couple of years later. 🙂 Thank you for your hard work!
Subject Matter Specialists: Now this title I tried to make it broad and understanding that this varies based on grade levels present and the size of the school. It is essential to focus on specific programs that benefit your students and teachers in their daily lives. You could be a specialist in reading or math, a speech-language pathologist, a librarian, or an instructional coach. Your caseload is probably the majority of the staff or students. Thanks for all you do!
School Counselor: When I was a teacher I really saw how hard the school counselors at my schools worked. I saw how central you are in a school. Most of your important work is done behind the scenes. So many students turn to school counselors for help and you provide so many needed services for them. Thank you for all that you do!
School Administration: There are administrators who work diligently to help students and teachers grow! Are there administrators that have a leadership role for the wrong reasons? Most certainly but just like in any career field, there are people that are in professions for the wrong reasons. I want to give a shout-out to the administrators who are ready to make those difficult decisions knowing they are the ones with the expertise. I would like to thank the administrators that seek to grow teachers and foster great connections with students. Thanks for your hard work!
Cafeteria workers: Your day is so fast-paced. Get the students all their meals. Pack everything quickly for breakfast to go or field trips. You deserve your breaks and rest since giving students food is so important. Thanks for all that you do!
Bus drivers: I really do not think I would make it past the second bus stop transporting students. Your job is so important, taking students safely to and from school. You are out in the weather, you are the first ones getting your bus ready to go. I hope you find some time to rest and stretch your legs. Thank you for your hard work!
I hope you cheer at your classroom victories! I hope if you have a less than a great day you can be assured that you are making connections. You deserve to rest and to invest time with your family, friends, and hobbies. Please know what you do matters, your students notice and care though they may not always verbalize it. Thank you for all that you do for your students. I hope you have a wonderful day!
